Despite having prepared himself for that very answer, it hits Peter hard. He's lost everyone now. Even if she wasn't exactly the Gwen that he knew and loved, that she was here at all was for so lone the one consolation that he got for dying and coming to Darrow without any of his friends or family. Now he doesn't even have a Gwen who barely recognizes him.
